Currency

The official currency in Budapest is the Hungarian forint (Ft.). The mean change is usually at 300 guilders per EUR1.
In Budapest find banknotes of 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 guilders. Coins in circulation are 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 guilders.

The best way to save is to pay fees by credit card whenever possible. When paying by credit card, the exchange rate is the current time and the maximum fee, depending on the issuer of the card, typically 1%.

In the city center will have no problem finding banks and ATMs.
Exchange booths located in the vicinity of the stations and in the center are those that offer the best conditions. Banks generally quote is worse than posts change and change is less convenient airport, hotels and country of origin.

Tram

Budapest has over 40 tram lines that run throughout the historic city center. The most frequently are:
• Line 2
Walk the east bank of the Danube and stops at the Chain Bridge, the Parliament, the Central Market and at all points of interest in the Pest side.
• Lines 19 and 41V
Batthyány tér connects the Gellért Hill.
• Lines 4 and 6
They operate 24 hours a day.

Metro

The Budapest Metro consists of three lines and is quite simple to use, since the lines intersect at only one point: the Deák Ferenc tér station. The meter operates from 4:30 to 23 hours with a frequency of between 2 and 15 minutes.

A typical Hungarian plan is to go to the thermal baths such as Gellért or Széchenyi.
Margarita Island is another good alternative, whose historical memories back to the eleventh century. Moulin Rouge Budapest: In the same Nagymezo street near Andrássy Avenue. The peak days (Friday and Saturday) cover charge.
Pardon zold Where Petofi bridge reaches the Buddha, there are two sites at the foot of the bridge outdoors. Music of different styles.
River: Located north from the Petofi bridge in Buda. It is a modern disco music.
Szimpla Kert: Near the Synagogue. Normally no cover charge, no music of different styles.

To visit

• Hungarian National Opera: Inaugurated in 1884, it was considered at European level as one of the most prominent opera houses of the time. Projects classicist and neo-Renaissance style must be the greatest nineteenth century Hungarian architect, Miklós Ybl. This is true tourist gem in VI., Andrássy út 22.

• The Heroes Square: This square is located in City Park XIV. It has a central column of the Millennium Monument in which the Archangel Gabriel holding the Holy Crown and the apostolic cross. After the column is two series of statues representing the major figures in the history of Hungary. This place is tucked in the Art Gallery on the right side and the Museum of Fine Arts on the left side.

• Fishermen’s Bastion: This work of neo-Romanesque style provides tourists a wonderful view of the Pest side. Construction began in 1895, is ideally located next to the Matthias, I., Szentháromság tér Church.

• Parliament: Found in V., Kossuth tér 1-3. It is the largest building in the country, stands on the bank of the Danube. This neo-Gothic architectural complex was built between 1984 and 1904.

• St. Stephen’s Basilica: The largest church in Budapest, the dome 96 meters high seen from almost every point of the city. This classical building was begun in 1851 and finished in 1905 The Basilica is found in V., Szent István tér.

• Andrássy Avenue: you can see in it the best of the eclectic architecture and buildings including the wonderful Opera. The avenue ends at the Heroes’ Square.

Where to eat

If looking for something fast and cheap but it is typical food of Hungary, one option is to dine in the city markets. On the top floor of the Central Market in Budapest you can find bars or premises where one can take a sausage, a bowl of goulash or a sandwich typical salami from Hungary and top it with a coffee or a sweet, all at a very affordable price.
Areas of restaurants:
In the tourist street Vaci can find a number of restaurants with different menus for a good price. In the streets adjacent to the Liszt Ferenc square (near Oktogon) is an area of restaurants and bars with terraces where you can also have a drink at night.
Another popular area is the street Ráday. From the square Kalvin tér (next to the National Museum and near the Liberty Bridge) you get to this semi-pedestrian street lined with terraces and is popular for its atmosphere and nightlife, and restaurants, bars and cafes to suit all budgets .

Corvin is a very famous area for people of all ages. The homes are quality and brand new. It has a fabulous shopping center with a variety of shops, a fitness center with spa, terraces, clubs and bars, good cinemas and convenient communication to navigate the rest of the city. Line 3 Metro and trams stop right there 4-6.
